The planned hotel and commercial building played a key role in the development since it brings the Große Straße to a focal point. Standing next to the bus station, the structure gives the area its spatial harmony, while creating a new and exciting space next to the Neumarkt, which itself is restored in its historical proportions. A building was designed that radiates tranquillity and a timeless flair through its clear structure, while simultaneously offering a maximum of flexibility. The facades are done in light brick and thus take up the design aspects of the already existing surrounding buildings.
The material slightly changes in its colour and, in combination with the large, causally distributed window openings across the facade, forms a successively opening, regular pattern. During sunset and at night, the jambs that look out to the windows, together with the semi-transparent broken masonry elements, interact with exterior and interior light. For Osnabrück, the new building creates the architecturally important bridge between the Neumarkt and the Old Town.
