The former "Centrum Warenhaus" of the GDR from the year 1978, which so far only operated in smaller areas as "Galeria Kaufhof", is being restructured and expanded. For this purpose, the existing building will be completely redesigned, rebuilt and expanded using existing body shell.
The stock is largely gutted, repaired and supplemented with two additional staggered storeys. The facades will also be completely renewed. The currently very large and massive sides of over 80 meters length are divided by the incisions, broken up and then offer a significantly improved natural exposure. The floors receive new developments, complete new technical equipment and a new interior construction. The ground floor is mainly used for underground parking and also offers space for future technical areas.
For the reconstructed building, a use as office building is foreseen. On the ground floor, cafes, restaurants and retail outlets are planned in various sizes, as well as doctors' offices may be possible.
